The Purple Nasty

European Fly Fishing Championships, Slovakia 2013. Team England's first practice session was held on a section of the River Poprad, which can only be described as "grayling soup". Each team member came in with 100+ fish and JT had had in excess of 200 to his own rod. In the following team meeting, each angler was asked to reveal their most effective pattern. JT confessed that he couldn't recall where it had come from, that it was this 'nasty purple thing'. And the Purple Nasty was born! Still brilliant for catching grayling, but equally effective with the trout.
